EOD Update (29 Sept 2006)

Haven't had time to look in detail into the LIONDIV-ACB Parkson share swap. Checked out the Edge online and Business Times online and all they talked about was some share swap, with the end result that LIONDIV would own the Parkson assets through ACB post-swap. So I tried to do a quick check at Bursa announcements and saw something else... that there was to be a share swap and basically all the ACB shares held by LIONDIV would be distributed up to LIONDIV shareholders. I can't believe those two sites never even mentioned this. I still haven't figured out the implications yet, but this is definitely something worth mentioning innit? Anyway, I decided to unload a bit of my position while trying to figure the deal out.

Latest disposal:

LIONDIV: -3,000 (5.20) ... Balance 5,000

EOD Update (19 Sept 2006)

GPACKET seems to be starting its next upward move. At one point it traded up 14c to 3.94 today before being pushed back to close only 6c up. LKT and LIONFIB continued their upward moves strongly, both closing up 16c. MUHIBAH also managed to add on another 5c to 1.95 despite selling pressure which pushed it down to 1.87 earlier (day high 1.99).

Just when I thought the Iris-related troubles were over and added a bit of SATANG just the other day, the hedge fund probe news came out yesterday and sent the usual suspects south again. Was hoping it wouldn't affect SATANG too badly, but it still lost 6c today to close at 1.01.

Latest disposal:

IJM-WB: -1,000 (1.33) ... Balance 17,000 (sold yesterday)

EOD Update (15 Sept 2006)

Bit of a roller-coaster with RHB today. First, news that EPF's offer had been rejected by Utama caused RHB's share price to fall to as low as 1.21 from an initial high of 1.28 .... then it recovered back to 1.28 on news that a foreign bank was going to make a bid at around 2.30 per share, then it started weakening again when news came out that the said foreign bank had denied in a telephone interview that it was going to make such an offer for RHB. In the end, I decided to let go most of my shares in RHB for the time being until a clearer picture emerges.

MUHIBAH performed well today, continuing its recent rise by surging up another 16c to close at 1.90 (day high 1.91). LIONDIV was up as much as 10c to 4.88 before settling down to close at 4.80 (up only 2c).

CYMAO went ex today for a 5c dividend. By day end, it managed to close at 1.25, up 2c on its ex-dividend price of 1.23. Not bad ...

SCOMIEN closed up 11c at 1.49 on very small volume. Some would point to this low volume and say the rise doesn't mean anything but I beg to differ. This is simply because from what I've seen recently, there doesn't seem to be any sellers at all at lower prices. I've been expecting a move but perhaps recent "political issues" have caused some hesitation for investors/punters wanting to get into any counters within the "sensitive" SCOMI stable.

As I write this, GMO Ltd. shares have gone on to hit 127p on the AIM in only its 2nd week of trading. This translates to a 154% rise over its IPO price of 50p a share. GPACKET & MTOUCHE each hold 12 mil shares in GMO (assuming none sold since IPO). At RM6.90 to GBP1.00, each of their stakes would now be valued at more than RM105 mil. I'm not sure what their cost of investment in GMO Ltd. is, but I bet it's nowhere even near this figure (a Star article recently mentioned it was about 8x above cost of investment when it was last traded at 94p at that time).

In the last week or so since GMO's IPO, the share prices of GPACKET & MTOUCHE have been sliding slowly from above 4.00 and seem to be stabilising now (GPACKET up 4c today, MTOUCHE still down 2c). This is a divergence from GMO's performance which has continued to be on the up and up. Wonder how long more investors can ignore this divergence? The same argument can be applied to OSKVI (up 3c today), although it only had 6 mil shares in GMO at point of IPO.

Latest disposals:

RHB: -2,000 (1.26), -6,000 (1.25) ... Balance 3,000

EOD Update (14 Sept 2006)

Plantation stocks as a group seem to have found a bottom today and rebounded quite strongly. Am taking a second punt at KULIM-WB again after exiting completely the last round... also bought a bit more SATANG, still looks undervalued to me.

Latest purchases:

SATANG: +2,000 (1.09) ... Total 7,000 (bought yesterday, didn't have time to update)

KULIM-WB: +4,000 (1.82), +1,000 (1.83) ... Total 5,000

EOD Update (11 Sept 2006)

Market looking pretty anaemic still ... seems like interest fast dissipating amongst almost everyone I talk to. Can't do much about it... pretty ok rebound for GPACKET and MTOUCHE off day's lows. Good show from RHB today, continuing its upward move and closing just 1c off its day high of 1.22. MPTECH announced a shocker for me, with a police report being made about suspected fraud. Guess the writing was on the wall all along, good reminder not to hold on to losers hoping for a rebound when no catalyst is expected to be forthcoming.

Latest disposals:

ASIATIC: -1,000 (3.52), -500 (3.54) ... Balance 2,000 (rode the roller-coaster again on later lots purchased).

MAHSING: -1,000 (2.78) ... Balance 2,000 (nice rebound, don't know how far it'll go).

EOD Update (1 Sept 2006)

Have not had time to look at Budget unveiled by PM today... but I expect an increased allocation to boost the construction sector. SJER-related stocks do not seem to have moved though, so maybe not much on that. UEMWRLD, UEMBLDR and TEBRAU all ended flat. FABER moved up an encouraging 5c to 0.655 (day high of 0.665) confirming the uptrend I was expecting to be sparked by the release of its latest quarterly.

After a mild correction, ROHAS today hit a high of 1.14 before closing at 1.10. Valuation-wise I think it's still cheap and this looks to me like a healthy accumulation pattern.

DCIB announced its PN17 status after-hours on Wednesday and today closed up 3c (21.4%!!) instead at 0.17 ... yet another clear case of the market moving ahead of news and discounting it. Too bad I wasn't willing to take the risk with such a small position left and dumped my remaining 5,000 shares at 0.135. I had totally forgot about this after dumping most of it much earlier. Guess this is one of the perils of holding too many counters. The percentage loss on these last few shares is huge , but RM-wise it's ok ... I can take it.

Latest disposal:

DCIB: -5,000 (0.135) ... Balance 0
